Congregation Ahavath Chesed (The Temple)
thetemplejacksonville.org
Congregation
Ahavath Chesed and the entire Jacksonville Jewish community have benefited substantially by the creation of the
Jacksonville Jewish Foundation. Programs for future generations are possible because of the vision of The Temple
and the eight other congregations and agencies that created a separate organization to provide a strong financial
base for their activities in Jacksonville.
The vital congregation and community programs developed and operated by The Temple
continually need additional sources of income. The Jacksonville Jewish Foundation supports The Temple in obtaining
this needed income in two very important ways. First, many Temple members have used the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation
as an organization to allow them to create their personal charitable funds so they can designate the charitable
organizations most deserving of their donations. Second, The Temple has used the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation's
investment program to maximize the net income available from investing The Temple's endowment and other investment
monies.
The success of the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation is due to the efforts of its
many Trustees. Specifically, the success is due to the ground work of the Jacksonville Jewish Federation. Also,
Elliott Horovitz, Past Executive Director, Michael Donziger, past president and Mel Gottlieb, President, have been
the leaders as the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation has gone from an infant to a mature organization. The Temple
has actively participated in the existence of the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation through payment of annual fees
and participation of Temple members on the Jacksonville Jewish Foundation Board of Trustees.
The Jacksonville Jewish Foundation is an organization that will provide the Jacksonville
Jewish community a financial base for decades of funding programs that enhance Jacksonville's Jewish life.
